Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has sparked reactions online after strongly criticizing women who willingly become second wives.
On her Instagram page, the actress shared a video of a pastor condemning the practice. In the clip, the cleric described second wives as greedy and jealous, claiming that witchcraft drives them to marry men who are already married.
Backing the pastor’s message, Rita Edochie made her stance clear in a lengthy caption. She wrote that any woman who agrees to become a second wife is not innocent or special but simply greedy. According to her, such women build their happiness on another woman’s pain and tears.
Edochie warned that being a second wife is not love or destiny but wickedness and covetousness. She went further to say that second wives are not queens but usurpers who steal what does not belong to them.
The actress concluded her message with a stern warning that the same tears and pain caused to another woman will eventually return to the second wife. She emphasized that there is no glory in being a second wife, only shame, curses, and the reminder that they could never be first.
She ended her post by wishing her followers a happy Sunday, noting that her message was part of a “sermon on taking what does not belong to you.”
