"Religion Should Not Be Seen as a War, Debate, or Competition" – Debbie Shokoya Opens Up About Embracing Islam After Marriage

Nollywood actress Debbie Shokoya has opened up about her personal faith journey, revealing that she embraced Islam after her marriage, despite being born into a Christian family.

Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, the actress explained that her decision was based on her personal relationship with God, rather than societal expectations. She emphasized that she has never discriminated against any religion, noting that love, humanity, and compassion should always come first.

“Christianity by birth, Muslim by marriage over here… God is love! Humanity always,” she wrote. Shokoya further stressed that religion should not be seen as a war, debate, or competition, but rather as a guide to living with kindness and respect.

She concluded by urging her followers to prioritize love in all things, regardless of religion, tribe, or race, saying: “Love comes first because God is love.”
