Sanku’s Family Asks Friends and Associates to Return His Money and Property at Burial; Fans React

The entertainment industry is still mourning the tragic death of popular Nigerian skit-maker, Sanku, who lost his life in a fatal car accident in Oyo State on September 1. Reports revealed that he lost control of his vehicle before the crash, a tragedy that has left fans and colleagues heartbroken.

Recently, videos from his burial ceremony surfaced online, sparking mixed reactions. In one of the clips, a family member was seen addressing Sanku’s friends and associates, asking them to return all of the comedian’s belongings and money in their possession. The speaker stressed that Sanku’s death should not be used as an excuse to hold on to his properties. He also urged those the late comedian owed to contact the family, even if privately.

This request drew divided opinions online. While some fans condemned the family for bringing up such matters at the burial, arguing that it showed a lack of respect for the dead, others pointed out that the practice was normal in Islamic tradition.

Social media users expressed their feelings:

  • @kokoroabigail wrote: “After Mohbad’s experience nobody learnt anything? God no let this country happen to me or anyone I know.”

  • @djneorise shared: “Some people are only after another man’s property. Humanity is dead.”

  • @builder_hafsat_ defended the family, saying: “It’s normal practice in Islam. May Allah forgive him and grant him Jannah.”

  • @vic_spech12 argued: “Allow the dead to rest. No respect for the dead again.”

Other fans also reacted emotionally after watching clips of Sanku’s last skits, recorded just days before his passing, which have been circulating online. Many described the videos as painful reminders of his talent and sudden departure.

Sanku’s death has left a huge void in the comedy community, with fans and colleagues remembering him as a bright and promising entertainer whose life was cut short.
