The Nigerian movie industry has lost one of its respected veterans, Iya Ile Okan. The news of her passing was confirmed by actor Kunle Afod on his social media page.
Sharing his grief, Afod wrote, “We finally lost her. May her perfect soul continue to rest in peace. Iya Ile Okan. It’s a final wrap.”
Her death comes just two months after Afod visited her at her home in Ogun State. During the visit, the actress opened up about her health challenges and difficulties in paying her medical bills after suffering a fall.
Kunle Afod, known for supporting aged Nollywood actors, had earlier shared a video of Iya Ile Okan asking for help, with the caption, “Iya Ile Okan really needs God’s intervention.”
The news of her passing has led to an outpouring of condolences from fans and colleagues. Many described her as a talented actress and a loving mother figure in the industry.
