Newly Married Nigerian Woman Explains Why She Hid Her Husband’s Face in Wedding Photos

A newly married Nigerian woman, Vasti Yerri from Adamawa State, has responded to public criticism after she posted her wedding photos online without revealing her husband’s face.

Some social media users had accused her of hiding his identity because he was allegedly an old or already married man. Addressing the rumours in a Facebook post on Saturday, October 18, Vasti firmly denied the claims.

“I didn’t marry your husband. You people said I was too old to get married, now that I married, you’re saying I married someone else’s husband. I won’t live my life to please anybody. I will show my husband when I want to. He’s very handsome and young — not an old man,” she wrote.

How They Met

Vasti went on to share her love story, revealing that she met her husband on Facebook in October last year, just before he travelled abroad. She took a bold step by visiting him before his departure — a trip he fully sponsored.

“I met my husband last October when he was preparing to travel abroad. He paid for my flight to and from Lagos. After that first meeting, we stayed in touch. When he returned, he came all the way to marry me,” she explained.

Encouraging Other Women

Vasti encouraged other single women not to lose hope, saying her story is proof that love can come unexpectedly.

“A simple ‘hi’ on Facebook changed my life. A man who loves you will not stress you. Be encouraged — your Mr. Right will find you soon,” she added.

Her bold response has sparked further reactions online, with many praising her confidence and decision to protect her marriage from public pressure.
