Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has issued a strong call to the Nigerian government, urging immediate action over the worsening insecurity, abductions, and terrorist attacks across the country.
Her statement follows the attack on the CAC church in Kwara State and the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi, which she described as “stark reminders of the Chibok girls’ tragedy.”
“Enough is enough.”
“We are calling for immediate action to address the ongoing violence, abductions, and terrorism in Nigeria.”
“The abduction of 25 young girls is a tragic reminder of Chibok and the urgent need for change.”
She outlined specific steps the government must take to restore safety and trust:
Iyabo Ojo’s 10-point demand to the Federal Government
She urged authorities to:
-
Investigate internal security breaches within the military.
-
Increase protection and security measures for citizens.
-
Seek international assistance if necessary.
-
Suspend and arrest security personnel suspected of aiding terrorists.
-
Arrest anyone supporting terrorists or bandits.
-
Equip the military with modern weapons, vehicles, gadgets, and medical supplies.
-
Mobilise the Air Force for stronger counter-terror operations.
-
Authorise bold military strikes on terrorist hideouts.
-
Prioritise real action over promises.
-
Stand firm against injustice, as a united people.
Iyabo stressed:
“Our military has the capacity to act; it’s time for them to step up. We must unite to demand justice and peace for Nigeria.”
A consistent voice for justice
This is not the first time Iyabo Ojo has spoken out about national issues:
-
After the Ibadan explosion, she lamented the rise in kidnappings and called the incident “heart-wrenching.”
-
She criticised the government’s plan to pay N8,000 monthly to poor Nigerians, questioning the practicality.
-
During the End Bad Governance protests, she rebuked President Tinubu, saying his silence was “deafening and disheartening.”
-
She has called out the Nigerian police, insisting that “injustice to one is injustice to all.”
-
She also highlighted growing hardship, depression, and drug abuse, urging leaders to take responsibility.
Her persistent activism earned her a Leadership Award for Youth and Empowerment, which she said she deeply appreciates.
