Popular Nigerian media personality and actress Toke Makinwa has described her daughter’s dedication as a day she will cherish forever.
According to Kemi Filani reports, the star held the dedication ceremony for her nearly two-month-old daughter, Yakira Eliana, fondly called Yaya, on Sunday, November 2nd. The joyful event drew several top celebrities and public figures including Shade Okoya, Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and wife, Mercy Eke, Uriel Oputa, Medlin Boss, Enioluwa, Priscilla Ojo, Eniola Badmus, Uche Montana, and Brodashaggi, among others.
On her TikTok page, Toke shared emotional clips from the dedication, expressing her gratitude and joy. She wrote,
“Today, we lifted Yaya up on love, faith, and prayer. A day I’ll cherish forever.”
It will be recalled that Toke welcomed her first child in August, shortly after turning 40. She revealed that becoming a mother at that age was the fulfillment of a long-held prayer.
Last month, while celebrating Yaya’s one-month milestone, Toke described motherhood as “unbelievable”, thanking her baby for choosing her and promising to always do her best. She also shared how her daughter had healed the broken heart she had carried since childhood and brought new meaning to her life.
During a heartfelt episode of her podcast, the former OAP became emotional as she recounted her journey. She shared how she had prayed to God to become a mother by 40 — a prayer that was miraculously answered when she got pregnant just a month after her 40th birthday.
The dedication ceremony marked not just a celebration of baby Yaya but also a symbol of faith, love, and answered prayers in Toke Makinwa’s life.
