A young woman identified as Mary, aged 23, has sadly passed away during the delivery of her first child. Reports reveal that the newborn also did not survive, making the incident even more tragic.
The heartbreaking event occurred just days before Mary and her husband, Udeme Etuk Emmanuel, were set to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
In a deeply emotional Facebook post, Emmanuel mourned his wife and baby, writing:
“Our one-year anniversary wasn’t supposed to be like this. But there you are, laying still, not responding to all your sweet names. Afia Mma, this pain is enormous and it’s difficult to be sane… Please take care of our beautiful daughter; she slept on with you. On this day and always, I celebrate the love that death could never take away.”
Mary and her child were laid to rest on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in Okoyo Community, Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, where family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to pay their final respects amid tears and sorrow.
