Senator Ned Nwoko has clarified the age of his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, at the time of their marriage six years ago. According to a statement released by his Communication and Technical Action Team, Regina was 19 years old, not 17, when they got married.
“For clarity, Regina Daniels was born on October 10, 2000. If she has been married for six years, that means she got married at 19 years old,” the senator explained. He added that their marriage was conducted honorably, publicly, and according to tradition, and that he has always treated Regina with love, care, and dignity.
Senator Nwoko condemned false reports circulating online, linking them to political motives. He stated, “Regina has become a weak point through which my political and personal enemies are attacking me. This is a witch-hunt aimed at tarnishing my reputation and stopping my developmental work as a Senator.”
The lawmaker also addressed past substance use by Regina and her sister, noting that both were expelled from school over drug-related issues. He accused some individuals of manipulating Regina as part of a smear campaign against him, asserting that the current stories are fabricated and amount to criminal defamation.
He concluded by warning that those spreading false information would have to prove their claims in due course.
