Nigerian rapper Olamide has stirred up strong reactions in the Afrobeats community after declaring Wizkid the greatest Afrobeats artiste ever since Fela Kuti.
Speaking at a media conference in Toronto, Olamide praised Wizkid for his global success, long-standing career, and influence on the growth of Afrobeats.
He said: “You know that after Fela, Wizkid is the greatest Afrobeats artiste ever.”
His comment has divided fans.
While many supporters agree and point to Wizkid’s awards, international records, and consistency, others argue that stars like Burna Boy and Davido have also made major contributions and deserve equal recognition.
