Nollywood actress Ini Edo has celebrated her colleagues, Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, following their historic box office achievements.
It was reported on Monday that Toyin Abraham joined Funke Akindele in the billionaire club after her 2025 movie, Oversabi Aunty, grossed ₦1 billion at the Nigerian box office. Funke Akindele had earlier announced that her movie, Behind The Scenes, earned over ₦2.4 billion across West Africa.
Taking to her Instagram page, Ini Edo congratulated both actresses, describing them as industry titans. She praised them for breaking records and pushing Nollywood to new heights. According to her, her respect for Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham has grown even more because of their strong commitment, smart planning, aggressive marketing, and overall understanding of the movie business.
Ini Edo admitted that it was ambitious of her to think she could compete fully in the busy December cinema season. However, she said she followed her instincts and chose to push forward despite the challenges. She revealed that she sacrificed her holiday to pursue her ambition and expressed pride in herself and her production team for staying committed to the project.
She also encouraged creatives not to be afraid of taking bold steps, noting that whether one wins or loses, life and work must continue. Looking ahead, she hinted at trying again in 2026.
Ini Edo ended her message by reminding fans that her movie, A Very Dirty Christmas, is still showing in cinemas across Nigeria and in the UK, urging movie lovers to go out and support it.
