Nollywood actress Kemisola Ariyo Apesin, popularly known as Kemity, has opened up about her journey to success in the movie industry, while addressing rumors about how she rose to fame.
In a lengthy post shared on her Instagram page, the comic actress posted throwback photos from movie sets with her colleagues and made it clear that she never used her body to secure movie roles.
Kemity firmly stated that she has never slept with anyone in exchange for film opportunities. According to her, before she even met her boss, actor Ibrahim Yekini (Itele), she was already financially independent, as she owned two wine shops. She also revealed that she once worked as a receptionist at Masters Hotel in Ayobo.
The Yoruba actress explained that although she started as an actress, she later switched to makeup artistry after discovering that actors often had to feed themselves and pay for hotel accommodation during productions. She said she was constantly spending money from her business to support her acting career, which led her to join the production crew as a makeup artist.
“From acting to makeup and back to acting, my growth has always been step by step. Nothing was handed to me,” she wrote.
Kemity stressed that she has always worked hard for her money and built her career through dedication and God’s grace. As a mother of two daughters, she said she cannot afford to build their future on immoral actions.
She also described herself as coming from a decent and well-trained background, adding that she once supported movie productions by donating goods from her shop.
“My name is Clean Ariyo Oluwakemisola Apesin. No one, and I mean no one, can boldly come out to say I used my body to collect anything from him,” she declared.
Advising aspiring actresses, Kemity urged them not to be misled by social media narratives. She encouraged them to focus on talent, discipline, consistency, and hard work.
The actress concluded her message by reaffirming that her success story is built on effort and perseverance.
“World-famous Kemity. No shortcuts. Just sweat.”
