“If an Igbo Man Supporting Tinubu Is a Betrayal, What Is a Yoruba Man Supporting Peter Obi?” – Cubana Chief Priest Queries Amid Backlash

Nigerian socialite Cubana Chief Priest has responded strongly to the criticism he received for openly supporting President Bola Tinubu.

Taking to his Instagram page, the celebrity barman questioned why it is seen as a betrayal for an Igbo man to support Tinubu, while some Yoruba people openly support Peter Obi. According to him, Nigerians must see themselves as one if they truly want to benefit from the country.

He argued that tribal politics has not helped the nation and warned against making decisions based on ethnicity. Cubana Chief Priest stated that Tinubu is politically strategic and far ahead in experience.

He pointed out that Tinubu supported former President Muhammadu Buhari, a Hausa man, and waited eight years before eventually becoming president. He referenced Tinubu’s popular “Emilokan” slogan, saying it shows he paid his dues and served his time before taking office.

The socialite further advised Nigerians to align themselves with people who have political structure and influence, rather than constantly fighting or protesting without results. He said years of protests, sit-at-home orders, and struggles have not brought meaningful change.

According to him, sometimes it is better to be “inside” the system than outside it. He encouraged his followers to think strategically about their future and consider aligning with those in power to secure better opportunities.

His statement has since sparked fresh debate online, with many Nigerians divided over his stance on politics and tribal loyalty.
