Tems Becomes First African Female Artiste to Score Seven Entries on Billboard Hot 100

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems has made history once again, becoming the first African female artiste to record seven entries on the United States Billboard Hot 100 chart.

She achieved this milestone after her song “What You Need” debuted at number 93 on the chart this week. The new entry brings her total number of appearances on the prestigious chart to seven.

With this achievement, Tems is now tied with fellow Nigerian star Burna Boy and South African band Seether for the highest number of Billboard Hot 100 entries by any African act in history.

Tems has continued to break global records in recent years. In 2022, she became the first African artist to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with the hit song “Wait for U,” a collaboration with Future and Drake.

Adding to her growing success, J. Cole’s new track “Bunce Road Blues,” which features Tems and Future, is also expected to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart next week.

Her latest achievement further strengthens her position as one of Africa’s most successful and influential music exports on the global stage.
