Nollywood actress Debbie Shokoya has refuted recent social media rumours claiming she is the daughter of singer Obesere. The speculation, which gained attention over the weekend, suggested that Debbie had recently revealed the alleged connection after keeping it secret for years.
Addressing the claims in a video posted on her Instagram page on Monday, Debbie clarified that she has never met or had any contact with Obesere. She expressed frustration over the widespread false reports:
"It is not funny anymore; the news is everywhere. I have never met Obesere before, and you claim I said he’s my biological father? Don’t I look like my father? Am I not my biological father’s replica? Obesere is not my biological father. Please stop spreading fake news! Stop writing or posting things I never said. Some commentators do not even think well enough to know that these things are fake; they start to throw abuses. I’ve never said or written this, nor did I cry out as they claimed. Please stop spreading false news. Bloggers should also post this video the same way they were quick to jump on that misconception."
Debbie’s statement aims to set the record straight and urge social media users and bloggers to stop spreading unverified stories.
