Gospel Singer Onos Brisibi Dies at 55 After Prolonged Illness

Nigerian gospel singer and Nollywood soundtrack voice Onos Brisibi has passed away at the age of 55.


Her family confirmed her death in a statement released on Thursday, revealing that she died on March 23, 2026, after a prolonged illness. In their tribute, they described her as a devoted Christian and gifted singer whose music touched many lives. They also remembered her as a warm, joyful, and kind-hearted woman whose legacy will not be forgotten.



According to the statement, Onos Brisibi was a passionate praise and worship leader who used her voice to spread the gospel, leaving lasting impressions on everyone who knew her.


She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Brisibi, her mother, siblings, extended family, friends, and members of her church, LoveWorld Ministries.


Her cousin, veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, shared an emotional tribute on Instagram, describing her as “love in human form.” He recalled their childhood memories, her lively personality, and her unique sense of humour, noting that her laughter remained with her even in her final days. He expressed deep pain over her loss and said he would miss her dearly.


The news of her passing has drawn condolences from several celebrities. Funke Akindele prayed for her soul to rest in peace, while Bimbo Ademoye and Stan Nze sent their sympathies.


Actress Omoni Oboli expressed deep sorrow, recalling how much she loved one of Onos’ songs and describing her as a bubbly and wonderful person she would greatly miss.


Media mogul Mo Abudu, singer Omawunmi, and actresses Kate Henshaw and Hilda Dokubo also shared condolence messages, praying for comfort for her loved ones.
