Nigerian singer Portable has stirred controversy online after criticizing religious leaders for their perceived inaction amid Nigeria’s growing insecurity.
In a statement shared on social media, Portable questioned why pastors have not done more to protect their congregations despite the escalating violence. He said:
"Why are Nigerian pastors not fighting for Christians? They use bulletproof cars yet their followers are dying."
The singer also urged pastors to take a stronger stand by organizing protests to demand accountability from the government. He added:
"Why can’t pastors lead protest to the Aso Rock?" — referring to the Nigerian presidential seat.
Portable further highlighted what he sees as a discrepancy in responses to attacks on different religious groups, noting:
"You can’t harm a Muslim and there won’t be chaos."
His remarks have sparked intense debate online, with many Nigerians discussing the role and responsibility of religious leaders during national crises.
