“They were after the money Yinka Ayefele raised for us” — Kehinde, twin of late singer Taiwo Adegbodu, cries out after armed robbery attack.

Kehinde Adegbodu, the twin brother of late Nigerian singer Taiwo Adegbodu, has cried out after armed robbers invaded his family home, targeting money believed to have been donated during his brother’s burial.

In a video circulating online, Kehinde revealed that he was away in Osogbo when the incident happened. He said his brother’s wife called him in fear, explaining that the robbers stormed the house and repeatedly demanded to know his whereabouts, Taiwo’s room, their jewellery, phone, and car key.

Recounting the incident, he said:

“I was in Osogbo three days ago when Taiwo’s wife called me, and her voice was shaking. She said armed robbers came to the house and were saying, ‘Where is Kehinde? Where is the room of Taiwo that died? Where is their jewellery? Where is Taiwo’s phone? Where is the car key? We are here because of Kehinde. We want to see him.’”

Kehinde disclosed that the robbers stole his clothes, valuables, and cash, and even contacted their boss during the operation to report that he was not at home. He added that the attackers spent about 45 minutes searching the house.

He believes the robbers were after the money raised for the family by gospel singer Yinka Ayefele, but clarified that the funds had already been used for a building project to bury his late brother.

Expressing pain over the incident, he said:

“I think the robbers thought that the money Yinka Ayefele raised for us was still with me. These robbers don’t even care that we are mourning. They spent over 45 minutes at our house.”

Kehinde also made a public appeal, stressing that he does not have money and lives a simple life. He revealed that the attack has left the children traumatised and afraid to stay in the house.

“Since the incident, our kids have been living in fear; they are scared to sleep in the house,” he added.

The incident has raised concern, as the grieving family continues to face both emotional and security challenges.
