“I once priced my coffin and didn’t believe I’d survive it,” – Dele Odule opens up on painful past

Veteran Nollywood actor Dele Odule has opened up about one of the most difficult moments of his life, revealing that he once became so overwhelmed by his struggles that he considered his own burial arrangements.

In a recently resurfaced interview, the Yoruba movie star, well known for his role in Ti Oluwa Ni Ile, recalled a painful period when he was living in Abeokuta and facing serious personal challenges.

According to the actor, his situation at the time became so troubling that he lost hope and began to feel disconnected from himself. He revealed that he even went as far as checking the price of a coffin because he could not see a way out of his problems.

Dele explained that the emotional and financial pressure around him made life feel unbearable, leaving him uncertain about the future.

He also mentioned that fellow Nollywood actor Olaiya Igwe witnessed the difficult moment and became emotional after seeing the condition he was in.

Despite the painful experience, Dele Odule has continued to build a respected career in the Nigerian movie industry. The actor, who hails from Oru Ijebu and was born in Ile-Ife, has remained one of the most recognised faces in Yoruba cinema since the late 1980s. He also previously served as president of the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria.
