Michael Carrick Confirmed as New Manchester United Manager

Manchester United have officially confirmed the appointment of Michael Carrick as their permanent head coach after an impressive spell in charge.

Carrick initially took over in January on an interim basis following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, but has now been rewarded with the full-time role after guiding the club back into the UEFA Champions League.

During his temporary reign, Manchester United won 11 of their 16 matches, drawing three and losing two. His early run included four straight wins and notable victories over Manchester City and Arsenal.

When he took charge, United were seventh in the Premier League table. However, a 3–2 victory over Nottingham Forest confirmed a third-place finish with a game still remaining.

Carrick’s coaching staff, including Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans, and Travis Binnion, are also expected to receive new contracts as part of the new setup.

Speaking after his appointment, Carrick expressed pride in leading the club he joined as a player two decades ago.

He said:

“From the moment that I arrived here 20 years ago, I felt the magic of Manchester United. Carrying the responsibility of leading our special football club fills me with immense pride.

Throughout the past five months, this group of players have shown they can reach the standards of resilience, togetherness, and determination that we demand here.

Now it's time to move forward together, with ambition and a clear sense of purpose. Manchester United and our incredible supporters deserve to be challenging for the biggest honours again.”

The appointment marks a new chapter for Manchester United as they aim to return to consistent title and European success.
