Nigerian actress and content creator Temi Kosoko has addressed ongoing criticism directed at her family within the Nollywood industry.
Temi, daughter of veteran actor Jide Kosoko, expressed frustration over repeated claims that she and her siblings are proud or disrespectful, simply because of their father’s influence in the film industry.
She also said that colleagues often report them to their father, accusing the family of enjoying special treatment due to his status.
According to her:
“I don’t know why our colleagues in the movie industry are always tagging all my siblings and myself as family that has so much pride and they are always reporting me to my father for being disrespectful.”
Temi explained that while their father’s name may have opened doors for them, it does not replace hard work. She insisted that she and her siblings have worked tirelessly to build their own careers in the entertainment industry.
She added:
“Some even said we are being favoured just because our father is in the movie industry and that’s why we are not humble.”
She further stressed that success in their family is not automatic, noting that effort and dedication have played a major role in their achievements.
“Myself and siblings work tirelessly, we put in so much effort just for us to get to this point.”
Temi also highlighted the challenge of coming from a large family, revealing that their father has 13 children, making it difficult for him to sponsor everyone’s film projects.
“And my dad has 13 of us, do they think it’s easy sponsoring 13 children to produce movies?”
She concluded by defending the Kosoko family’s reputation, describing them as hardworking individuals who continue to put in effort to succeed in Nollywood.
“We are generally hard workers in my family.”
