Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strongly criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying Nigerians are becoming tired of what he described as propaganda and poor governance.
In a statement released on Friday through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said the period of political complacency and governance by deception is gradually coming to an end.
According to him, Nigerians are preparing to reclaim the country through the ballot box during future elections.
He said:
“The era of excuses is ending. The era of accountability is approaching. The era of propaganda is fading. And with the support of Nigerians, a new chapter of competence, prosperity, security, and genuine hope shall begin.”
Atiku also stated that Nigerians are now more aware of the country’s situation and will eventually make their decisions through voting.
“The people are awake. The people are watching. And when the time comes, they will deliver their verdict through the ballot.”
The former presidential candidate further attacked the current administration as it marks its third year in office, arguing that the true reflection of the government’s performance is seen in the hardship faced by ordinary Nigerians.
According to him, rising hunger, unemployment, struggling businesses, and insecurity affecting schoolchildren and communities across the country paint a more accurate picture than government advertisements or public celebrations.
His remarks have since generated political reactions online as debates continue over the performance of the current administration and preparations ahead of future elections.
