A new controversy has emerged within the family of late Nollywood actor Mr. Ibu following a public appeal for financial support made on behalf of his widow, Stella Maris, and her children.
Days ago, social media personality King Mitchy appealed to the public for donations, claiming that Mr. Ibu’s widow and children were facing serious financial difficulties. According to the appeal, the family had allegedly been living without electricity for months, relying on well water, struggling with rent payments, and unable to send the children back to school because of unpaid school fees.
The appeal attracted sympathy from many Nigerians who viewed it as a genuine call for help following the veteran actor’s death.
However, the situation took a different turn when one of Mr. Ibu’s older sons from another relationship publicly challenged the claims and raised allegations against Stella Maris.
According to him, the late actor left behind several properties intended to benefit all of his children. He alleged that Stella Maris took control of the entire estate and excluded the other children from decisions concerning the assets.
The son further claimed that one of Mr. Ibu’s properties in Lagos was sold for ₦60 million without the knowledge or consent of the actor’s children.
He maintained that the late actor’s properties were meant to serve the interests of all his children and alleged that the widow has been managing the assets independently while sidelining other family members.
The allegations have generated reactions online, with many calling for clarity regarding the management of the late actor’s estate. As of now, Stella Maris has not publicly responded to the claims made by Mr. Ibu’s son.
