NECO releases 2026 BECE results as over 186,000 candidates participate

The National Examinations Council has officially released the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).


The announcement was made in a statement issued on Thursday by NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani.


According to the council, a total of 186,291 candidates registered for the examination across 12 subjects. The candidates came from the 36 states of Nigeria, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and five foreign countries.


NECO stated that the examination commenced on April 20 and was successfully concluded on April 30, 2026.


The council explained that the results were approved and released after the successful completion of the 2026 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at its headquarters in Minna.


The meeting was chaired on behalf of the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, by the Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, Folake Olatunji-David.


The release of the results marks the completion of the 2026 BECE process, allowing candidates across Nigeria and participating foreign countries to access their performance in the examination.
