Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) has shared one of the most memorable ways he has expressed love to his wife, revealing that he once handed over the biggest paycheck of his acting career to her.
Speaking during an appearance on The Morayo Show, the 65-year-old screen icon reflected on how his understanding of romance has changed over the years. According to him, true love is no longer defined by traditional gifts such as flowers and chocolates but by meaningful acts of trust, generosity, and support.
RMD recounted receiving a cheque worth ₦100 million, describing it as the largest payment he had ever earned as an actor. Instead of keeping the money for himself, he immediately instructed that the cheque be given to his wife.
He recalled that his wife was initially surprised by the gesture and asked if he wanted her to keep the money for their children. However, the actor told her the money was hers to keep, emphasizing that it was his way of showing his love and appreciation.
Describing himself as a hopeless romantic, RMD jokingly remarked that while flowers and chocolates are traditionally associated with romance, many women today seem to appreciate financial gestures even more.
Beyond discussing love and marriage, the veteran actor also reflected on reaching the milestone age of 65, expressing deep gratitude for life. He revealed that both of his parents passed away before celebrating their 60th birthdays, making every birthday a special blessing for him.
RMD said he considers himself to be living on "extra time" and remains thankful for every new year he celebrates. He attributed his youthful appearance and continued vitality to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, staying positive, and embracing life with gratitude.
His heartfelt revelations have drawn admiration from fans, many of whom praised his enduring love for his wife and his inspiring outlook on life, family, and gratitude.
