Renowned Nollywood film critic and radio broadcaster Tolu Fagbure has sparked widespread reactions online after sharing his opinion on actress Wumi Toriola's acting talent during a recent interview.
Speaking about some of Nollywood's leading actresses, Fagbure claimed that Wumi Toriola is a better actress than Funke Akindele, Mercy Aigbe, and Toyin Abraham. He also described her as the wisest among the four actresses, praising both her acting ability and decision-making.
According to Fagbure, Wumi Toriola impressed him with her movie Queen Lateefah, which he described as a better-quality film production. He commended the actress for recognising her strengths and limitations while making the movie.
The film critic pointed out that Wumi did not credit herself as the producer of the project. Instead, he praised her for bringing in filmmaker Judith Audu to handle the production, saying the decision showed wisdom and professionalism.
Fagbure explained that Wumi understood she was not the best person for that particular role and chose someone she believed was more qualified. He said this decision contributed to the overall quality and success of the film.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions on social media. While some movie lovers agreed with his assessment and praised Wumi Toriola's acting skills and professionalism, others defended Funke Akindele, Mercy Aigbe, and Toyin Abraham, arguing that each actress has made remarkable contributions to the Nigerian film industry and deserves recognition for her achievements.
