Dino Melaye Reveals Former PDP Officials Who ‘Sold’ the PDP to Tinubu

Former lawmaker and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has accused three former officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of allegedly undermining the party and handing it over to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Melaye made the allegation during an interview on the Kaa Truths podcast, where he criticised the actions of former PDP officials whom he blamed for the party’s current political troubles.

According to Melaye, former acting National Chairman of the PDP Umar Damagum, former National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and former Organising Secretary Umar Bature allegedly worked together to “sell out” the opposition party to Tinubu.

The ADC chieftain claimed that the trio helped weaken the PDP and effectively handed the party over to the President before Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), allegedly completed what he described as the party’s “final funeral.”

Melaye said:

“Damagun, Anyanwu and Bature sold out the PDP to the president before Wike finally organised the burial of the party.”

The comments come amid continued internal crises within the PDP and growing political realignments ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

Melaye’s remarks reflect the ongoing blame game among opposition politicians over the PDP’s weakened position, with different factions and former party members offering varying explanations for the party’s political challenges.
