NYSC Makes NERD Clearance Mandatory for Prospective Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that obtaining National Electronic Registration Database (NERD) clearance is now a compulsory requirement for all prospective corps members ahead of mobilisation.

The directive was made public in a notice shared on the scheme's official X (formerly Twitter) account, where the NYSC stressed that no prospective corps member will be mobilised without completing the NERD clearance process.

The scheme advised prospective corps members to obtain the clearance as early as possible to avoid unnecessary delays during mobilisation into the national service programme.

According to the NYSC, failure to secure the mandatory clearance could prevent eligible graduates from participating in the upcoming orientation exercise.

Reinforcing the directive, the agency declared: "No NERD clearance, No NYSC," emphasizing that the requirement is now compulsory for every prospective corps member.

The announcement serves as an important reminder for graduates preparing for national service to complete the clearance process promptly to ensure a smooth and timely mobilisation.
