Former PDP Chairman Bamanga Tukur Dies at 90

Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Mohammed Tukur, has died at the age of 90.


Tukur reportedly passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, with his death confirmed by his family in an official statement signed by his son, Awwal D. Tukur.


In the statement, the family described the late politician and elder statesman as their “beloved father and patriarch,” highlighting his years of service to his family, community, Adamawa State and Nigeria.


The family announced his death with deep sadness, saying Tukur had “returned to his Creator” while expressing total submission to the will of Almighty Allah.


The statement read in part: “It is with profound sadness and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah that the family announces the passing of our beloved father and patriarch, Alhaji Bamanga Mohammed Tukur, who returned to his Creator today 12th September 2026.”


The family also thanked Nigerians, friends, political associates and well-wishers for their prayers, condolences and support following the news of his passing.


Details of his Janazah (funeral prayer) and other burial arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course.


The family concluded by praying for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for the deceased, asking that his good deeds be accepted and that he be granted Aljannatul Firdaus.
