Veteran Nollywood actor Olaiya Igwe has addressed concerns about his health after a video from a movie scene showing him looking sick went viral on social media.
The actor explained that he is in good health and that the viral footage was simply part of his acting role in a movie produced by veteran actor Oga Latin.
According to Olaiya Igwe, the scene required him to portray a sick father, but the footage was taken out of context by some social media users who assumed that he was genuinely battling an illness.
The actor said the video generated significant concern, noting that while some people understood that he was only acting, others became worried and reached out to check on his wellbeing.
He appreciated those who genuinely showed concern and urged them to remain calm, assuring them that there was no cause for alarm.
However, Olaiya Igwe expressed disappointment over people who celebrated the possibility of his death, saying some individuals had actually wished that he would die.
He wrote:
“For those that are genuinely concerned, please relax. There’s no problem. I was only acting my role, as you all know, I am a versatile actor.”
The veteran actor further explained that the viral clip came from an Oga Latin movie in which he played the role of a sick father.
While condemning those who wished him harm, Olaiya Igwe said he was perfectly fine and reiterated that there was nothing wrong with his health.
He also responded to those he described as wishing him evil, saying: “For as many wishing me evil, evil will be their portion.”
The clarification is expected to reassure fans and colleagues who had become concerned after seeing the viral movie footage.
