Nollywood actress and philanthropist Sotayo Gaga has appealed to people seeking financial assistance to start or expand their businesses to stop directing their requests to her.
The actress made the appeal in a message shared on social media, explaining that she is not part of the government and does not have the financial capacity to meet the needs of everyone who reaches out to her.
Sotayo said she also needs money to fund and grow her own business but has chosen to support people in need with proceeds from her YouTube movies.
According to her, only a small number of people watch her movies on YouTube, yet she has been using the income generated from the platform to assist needy people on the streets.
She expressed concern that some people had begun to feel entitled to financial support from her simply because of the assistance she has previously offered.
Sotayo urged those seeking business funding to direct their requests to the appropriate government authorities rather than expecting her to provide financial assistance.
She wrote:
“I have my own business too that I need more money for but am not disturbing anyone on social media. Only few people watch my movies on YouTube, and it’s the proceeds from the YouTube movies I have been giving out to the needy on the streets.”
The actress concluded by asking people to stop directing their financial needs to her, stressing that she cannot provide funds for everyone who contacts her.
