Nigerian music star Davido has engaged billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote in a conversation about his company’s shares and the importance of investing in African businesses.
The singer posed the question to Dangote during an event in New York, where the billionaire unveiled a Dangote billboard in Times Square. Davido was among the notable personalities present at the event.
In a video from the occasion, Davido asked Dangote why people should consider buying shares in his company, prompting the billionaire to explain the broader economic significance of investing in businesses.
Responding to the singer’s question, Dangote said purchasing shares provides an opportunity for wealth and prosperity to be distributed more widely across Africa.
“It is important to buy shares because that’s the only way to spread prosperity and wealth across Africa,” Dangote said.
The exchange between Davido and Dangote attracted attention online, with the singer using the public event to seek clarification from one of Africa’s most prominent businessmen on the significance of share ownership.
Dangote’s response focused on the idea that wider participation in company ownership through shares can help spread wealth and prosperity among Africans.
