Joseph Aloba, father of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding the burial arrangements of late gospel singer Toluwanisings, drawing comparisons between the situation and the circumstances surrounding his own son’s death.
In a statement addressing the matter, Joseph questioned why some people were advising Toluwanisings’ family not to handle the situation in the same way as Mohbad’s case, despite concerns being raised about the living conditions of the late singer’s father.
He specifically compared the reported living conditions of Toluwanisings’ father with those of his mother-in-law, claiming that the latter lived in a comfortable house with air conditioning, while the singer’s father stayed in a room that reportedly cost ₦35,000 per year.
In his words, “Toluwanisings’ mother-in-law was living in a good house with AC, while his father lived in a ₦35,000-a-year room, yet people are saying they shouldn’t do the case like Mohbad’s.”
Joseph’s remarks appeared to question the advice being given to Toluwanisings’ family and suggest that the circumstances surrounding the singer’s family dispute reminded him of the issues he faced after Mohbad’s death.
His comments come amid the disagreement between Toluwanisings’ widow and his family over where the late singer should be buried. The dispute has attracted widespread attention and reactions on social media, with some people calling for a peaceful resolution.
His intervention, however, has generated mixed reactions, as social media users expressed different opinions about his comparison and the ongoing burial controversy.
One commenter, identified as @ANGRY NIGERIAN, questioned whether Toluwanisings had actually been responsible for providing for his wife’s family, warning against making assumptions about the circumstances of another family.
Another user, @Begin, expressed concern about the length of time the late singer’s body had reportedly remained in the morgue, questioning why the burial had been delayed.
Meanwhile, @Tosin advised men to make financial provisions for their old age rather than depend entirely on their children for support. The commenter argued that parents should take responsibility for securing their financial future.
Similarly, @stillthinking suggested that Joseph’s comparison was influenced by his personal experience, implying that people tend to relate situations to circumstances they have previously encountered.
The reactions highlight the differing opinions surrounding the controversy, with some focusing on the reported financial circumstances of Toluwanisings’ father, while others believe attention should remain on resolving the disagreement and allowing the late singer to be laid to rest.
