Toyin Abraham Issues Cease-and-Desist Notice, Threatens Legal Action Over Defamatory Publications

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has issued a cease-and-desist notice warning members of the public against making or circulating false, misleading and defamatory statements about her.

The actress, popularly known for producing the movie Bestie, took the step through her legal representatives following what her lawyers described as several false and malicious publications targeting her.

In the legal notice, Abraham’s lawyers specifically addressed bloggers, social media users, content creators, influencers and members of the general public, urging them to be cautious about the information they publish and share concerning the actress.

They called on anyone involved to immediately stop making, publishing, reposting, circulating, endorsing or spreading statements about her that are false, misleading, malicious, defamatory or unverified.

The lawyers also emphasised that the warning covers both direct and indirect dissemination of such publications, meaning individuals who share or endorse the alleged defamatory content could also face consequences.

According to the notice, failure to comply with the directive could result in legal action and other remedies available under the law.

The development signals the actress’s determination to protect her reputation and address publications she considers harmful to her image.

Although the notice did not identify specific individuals or publications, it serves as a warning to social media users and online publishers against spreading unverified claims about the filmmaker.
