The US is increasing pressure on President Muhammadu Buhari's administration following the banning of Twitter in Nigeria.
On Wednesday, Samantha Power, a senior American diplomat, sent a statement to the US Mission in Nigeria.
A senior diplomat is the current Administrator of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
“There are nearly 40 M Twitter users in #Nigeria, and the country is home to Africa’s largest tech hub.
“This suspension is nothing more than state-sanctioned denial of free speech and should be reversed immediately. #KeepitOn.” Power said.
From 2013 until 2017, Power served as the United States' 28th Ambassador to the United Nations.
