LAI MOHAMMED GRAND-DAUGHTER'S WEDDING SHUT DOWN KWARA STATE

Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, has closed down Oro town in Kwara state to attend his granddaughter's wedding.

According to reports, Lai Mohammed's granddaughter Toyosi married Gbolahan Sambo on Thursday in Oro, Kwara State, in a traditional ceremony held at the minister's residence.

Lai Mohammed's political supporters descended upon the event to show their support.

Speaking to reporters at the ceremony, Mohammed emphasized that his political structure in Kwara is still intact and cannot be sunk.

"I am glad you noticed that I have here today the same people I have worked with politically in Kwara for the last 20 years."

"Even though they tried to take me away from them, we interact on a regular basis and have almost become a family."

He further stated that:

"I am not surprised, but I am delighted, that they came out in such large numbers today to share in my joy at this occasion."

"What this means fundamentally is that there is no political difference between me and them, and they still regard me as one of their leaders, and I still regard them as my associates," he explained.

Speaking of marriage, the minister stated that in Yoruba culture, the traditional rites are reversed as the most important marriage.

He said:

"As you can see, the bride was handed over to the groom's parents, indicating that marriage is not just between two individuals, but also between families, communities, and, in some cases, two kingdoms."

"This is significant because every member of the family, community, or kingdom must ensure that the marriage does not fail."
