Nollywood actress and politician, Funke Akindele, has received less support from her colleagues since becoming the deputy governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos, as they are politically divided, with some supporting the incumbent governor of Lagos who is running for a second term. However, Ruth Kadiri has shown her support for Funke, endorsing her for Deputy Governor of Lagos under the PDP umbrella. Ruth Kadiri praised Funke for being hardworking, smart, tough, emotional, disciplined, and a risk-taker, and said she trusts her to do a good job. Funke expressed her gratitude to Ruth Kadiri for her support. Actress and body positivity advocate, Monalisa Stephen, had queried her colleagues in the entertainment industry over their lack of support for Funke Akindele.
