Yoruba Group Slams Obasanjo's Call to Cancel Elections - Accuses Him of Selfish Agenda to Remain Nigeria's Only Yoruba President

The Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) in association with Yoruba Assembly and Yoruba diaspora has knocked former President Olusegun Obasanjo saying he wants to be Nigeria's only president from the Yoruba tribe.

Recall on Monday, February 28, Obasanjo organized a press conference urging Buhari to compel INEC to redo the elections due to allegations of irregularities in the just concluded Presidential elections.

A statement signed by Olawale Oshun  said Obasanjo ‘’lacks the moral right to serve as a guiding beacon of Nigeria.‘’

According to recent news, the groups, including the Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG), the Yoruba Assembly, and Yoruba diaspora, have spoken out about the ongoing 2023 transition elections in Nigeria. They have emphasized that the presidential and National Assembly elections, which have already started, should be allowed to continue to completion. They also urged any aggrieved parties to seek legal redress in court, rather than resorting to other means of protest.

“We also add that the Military should completely steer clear of whatever temporary  impasse that could occur as this is not unusual in all democracies. The Military should also turn a deaf ear to any possible incitement be it from retired Generals or their rank and file. The world has moved on and the Yoruba people will resist with other Nigerians were any misguided intervention to take place in our polity,” he stated.
