In a candid interview, popular skitmaker Kiekie has emphasized the importance of shared financial responsibility between husbands and wives, highlighting her own approach to this aspect of her marriage.
Speaking to Toke Makinwa, Kiekie revealed that she actively participates in covering the rent for their home alongside her husband. She firmly believes in not letting her husband shoulder the entire financial burden of their household. Kiekie expressed her conviction that while it's wonderful to receive extravagant gifts like trips to Dubai or Barcelona and luxury items such as Fendi bags on special occasions, refusing to contribute to the rent is not something she's comfortable with.
She passionately stated, "On my birthday, fly me to Dubai, fly me to Barcelona, buy me Fendi bags, that's beautiful. But that I won't pay rent won't be possible." She elaborated further, explaining that by equally sharing financial responsibilities, couples can navigate disagreements more fairly. "So that when we want to fight, you carry a chair, I'll carry the television, we will share everything equally. You can't tell me to get out of my house; nothing like 'get out of my house.' We are living together," she asserted.
Kiekie firmly believes that being financially responsible for certain aspects of the household forces husbands to show greater respect for their wives. She offered advice to women, urging them not to reside in a home without contributing financially, as she finds this approach nonsensical.
In a world where traditional gender roles are evolving, Kiekie's perspective underscores the importance of financial partnership within marriages and encourages couples to work together in managing their financial responsibilities.
