An Anambra woman was disowned by the community after she attempted to sell two of her sons for N1.8 million.

In a shocking incident in Ozubulu, Anambra State, a woman named Chinyere Chukwu was apprehended while attempting to sell two of her sons for N1.8 million. The woman, who has 11 children, was arrested alongside her 17-year-old daughter, Joy Chukwu, who allegedly aided in the scheme.

Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, acted as an undercover buyer after receiving information about Chukwu's intentions. During interrogation, Chukwu claimed to be from Ozubulu and explained that she resorted to selling two of her children to provide for the others after her husband's death.

However, a delegation from Ozubulu visited the Commissioner's office, asserting that Chukwu was not an indigene of their community. Led by the community's President General, Chief Chris Ononuju, and Lady Ndupu Clara, the delegation insisted that Chukwu was merely a resident and not married to anyone in the community.

According to Ononuju, investigations revealed that Chukwu's claims were false. Her purported husband is alive and has not remarried since his wife's death six or seven years ago. Chukwu had reportedly been asked to leave the community previously due to unclear activities.

The delegation expressed embarrassment over the incident, emphasizing that Chukwu's actions tarnish the community's reputation. They clarified that Chukwu's association with Ozubulu was limited to her residency and urged the public to disregard her claims.
