"Lion No Dey Born Chicken" Jide Awobona Shares The Inspiration Behind His Transformation For His Recent Project.

Nollywood actor and movie producer Jide Awobona has revealed the heartfelt inspiration behind his appearance in his upcoming film, Inspector Jero. In a touching Instagram post, Awobona shared a video of his father, who is approaching his 70th birthday, and explained how his father's look from over 30 years ago influenced his own for the movie.

Awobona wrote, "LION NO DEY BORN CHICKEN …MY DAD’S LOOK OVER 30 YEARS AGO INSPIRED MY LOOK FOR 'INSPECTOR JERO'. HE IS 70 IN A FEW MONTHS, AND HE STILL LOOKS CUTE BUT STOPPED KEEPING HIS BEARD. ONE OF MY GREAT FANS AND CRITICS, I HOPE I MAKE YOU PROUD AGAIN WITH THIS, THOUGH I KNOW YOU WILL ASK WHY I DIDN’T CUT THE BEARDS JUST EXACTLY LIKE YOURS AS I DID FOR A MOVIE SOME YEARS BACK; I JUST DIDN’T WANT IT TO BE TOO STYLISH FOR 'INSPECTOR JERO'."

The actor praised his father's enduring charm and noted how he no longer keeps a beard. Awobona expressed deep admiration for his father, describing him as both a great fan and a critic, and hoped that his portrayal in Inspector Jero would make his father proud. He also humorously anticipated his father's likely question about not cutting his beard to match exactly, as he had done for a previous movie, explaining that he wanted a less stylish look for the character.

Awobona's heartfelt tribute to his father adds a layer of personal significance to his role in Inspector Jero, highlighting the profound influence of family legacy on his creative choices.
