A resurfaced throwback video shows Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo humorously predicting her daughter Priscilla’s early marriage, a vision now coming true. The clip, taken on Priscilla’s 20th birthday, captured Iyabo stating that her daughter should be engaged by 23, married by 24, and have her first child by 25. Priscilla playfully disagreed, saying she’d marry at 26. Now, at 23, Priscilla is engaged to Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, with their wedding planned for 2025.
Reflecting on Priscilla’s engagement last week, Iyabo emphasized the "power in the tongue," noting how she had always envisioned an early marriage for her daughter. Iyabo shared that when Priscilla revealed her relationship with Jux, she initially researched Tanzania, spoke with Jux on the phone, and explained the family traditions he’d need to follow to meet her Nigerian in-laws. She praised Jux as a family-oriented man, adding that his sister is already warmly invested in Priscilla and is excited about the upcoming wedding preparations.
Back in March, Iyabo expressed her wish for Priscilla to marry young and build a family, though she stressed that she wouldn’t pressure her daughter. This desire seems to have materialized when, in August, Priscilla introduced Jux to the family during his birthday celebration in Nigeria, where Iyabo officially welcomed him into the Ojo family, showing her support and affection for the couple.
Hints of their engagement appeared when Priscilla and Jux shared photos in Yoruba traditional attire. Gboah later confirmed that the couple is indeed engaged and preparing for their wedding next year.
In recent updates, Jux’s sister visited Nigeria, receiving a warm welcome from Iyabo and Priscilla. Iyabo described her as an “amazing” addition to the family and promised to make her stay in Lagos unforgettable, filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
“Get engaged at the age of 23, get married at 24 & have your first child at 25. Any man that doesn’t want to marry you, don’t date them.”
