Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has reached a major milestone with her latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa (ELJ), which has become the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of 2024. The film earned an impressive ₦500 million within just 12 days of its release.

Taking to Instagram, Funke expressed her profound gratitude to God and her fans for their unwavering support. She wrote, “Thank you, Lord!! Thank you, everyone!! I couldn’t have done this without your love and support!! God bless you all!!!”
The actress also celebrated the film's UK premiere at Odeon Cinemas, where tickets sold out in minutes. Overwhelmed by the demand, Funke announced the addition of more screens to accommodate her fans in the UK.
Dedication to Excellence and Empowerment
Funke spared no effort in making Everybody Loves Jenifa a cinematic masterpiece. She worked with a crew of 175 members, 95% of whom were young people. Funke revealed that the project was self-funded and highlighted her commitment to empowering talented individuals in the industry.
Her partnership with the Lagos State Fire Service added a unique dimension to the film's production. This collaboration was shared by Jubril Giwa, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor, on social media.

Funke Akindele is no stranger to breaking records. In January, she became the first Nigerian filmmaker to gross over ₦1 billion with her 2023 hit, A Tr!be Called Judah, which earned ₦1.4 billion at the box office. Her other blockbusters, including Battle on Buka Street and Omo Ghetto: The Saga, have cemented her reputation as Nollywood's Box Office Queen.
Despite her success, Funke recently spoke out against the rampant piracy affecting Nollywood. She urged Nigerians to support filmmakers by saying no to piracy, emphasizing the immense effort and resources invested in her projects.
