Nollywood actress and box office queen Toyin Abraham has been showered with immense love following the massive turnout at Ikeja Cinema for her latest movie, Alakada Bhad and Boujee. The movie, which continues to show in cinemas across Nigeria, has been generating buzz as fans flock to watch it.
Taking to her Instagram page, the mother of one shared a video of the excited crowd at Ikeja Cinema. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Toyin expressed thanks to God for her success and acknowledged her fans and supporters for their unwavering encouragement. Joining her at the cinema was fellow actress Bimbo Ademoye, adding to the memorable experience for fans.
In her emotional message, Toyin wrote:
"God did it! I won. Thank you so much, Ikeja. Alakada Bhad and Boujee is still showing and getting the hype it deserves. Please make it a date this weekend. Ilorin, I deeply apologize for my absence, but I kindly ask you to honor me by watching it at the cinema today and showing me love.”
This achievement is significant for Toyin, who recently urged Nigerians to support the fight against movie piracy. She revealed that someone was caught recording her movie in a cinema but was later released after her intervention.
The actress has come a long way in her career and has not shied away from addressing critics. Last year, Toyin responded to a fan of Funke Akindele who belittled her hard work, stating that she was tired of people comparing her efforts to others.
Toyin’s hard work has paid off financially. In December, she shared that she earned ₦52 million after seven days at the cinema in 2023, but in 2024, that figure skyrocketed to ₦134 million within the same period. She credited her success to God and declared herself her own competition while expressing gratitude to her fans.
To show appreciation, Toyin penned a heartfelt note thanking fans for their overwhelming support for her new project. However, her post sparked backlash after some interpreted her comments as a subtle jab at filmmakers who use gifts to entice fans at cinemas. In a follow-up post, Toyin clarified her intentions, stating that her words were misinterpreted and were meant to focus solely on appreciating her supporters.
The success of Alakada Bhad and Boujee highlights Toyin Abraham's unwavering dedication to her craft and her growing influence in the Nigerian film industry.
