"This is just the beginning.” Eniola Ajao celebrates as her first cinema movie bags AMVCA nomination.

Popular Nollywood actress and producer, Eniola Ajao, is filled with excitement after receiving a nomination for the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

The organisers of the prestigious AMVCA announced the full list of nominees on Sunday, March 23rd, celebrating the best works in film, television, and digital content released between January 1 and December 31, 2024.

Eniola Ajao’s movie, Beast of Two Worlds, which was released in 2024, earned a nomination in the Best Sound/Sound Design category. Her film will compete alongside projects from other top Nollywood stars like Lateef Adedimeji’s Lisabi and Femi Adebayo’s Seven Doors.

Reacting to the news on her Instagram story, Eniola expressed her joy, calling the nomination a big achievement and stating that her work finally receiving recognition is a proud moment for her. She also teased fans about her second cinema movie, saying this is just the beginning of greater things to come.

She wrote:

“AMVCA nomination for Beast of Two Worlds is a big deal to me!!

I’m happy my work got recognition. This is just the beginning.”

Earlier this year, Eniola announced that she had new projects lined up, promising fans and supporters that she was fully prepared to deliver exciting content in 2024. Her upcoming project is expected to be released around the Easter period.

It has not been all smooth sailing for the actress. Last year, her first cinema movie premiere was surrounded by controversy after she awarded Nigerian crossdresser Bobrisky the Best Dressed Female title at the event. The move sparked backlash from fans and colleagues.

In an interview with Arise News TV, Eniola explained that the decision was a planned publicity stunt aimed at promoting her movie. She admitted that Bobrisky’s controversial nature was used to generate buzz around her project.

To correct the public’s displeasure, Eniola later awarded two other female attendees — Bose Alao and another guest — the Best Dressed Female title, gifting them one million naira each.

Now, with her AMVCA nomination, Eniola Ajao seems to have turned the page, and her fans are celebrating her progress as she continues to make her mark in Nollywood.
