"How I Turned Down an Invite to Canada and Never Played Yinka Alaseyori’s Songs Because of Tope Alabi" – Lizzy Anjorin reveals

Popular Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin has once again called out Nigerian gospel singer Tope Alabi, revealing the depth of her past loyalty and how she felt deeply humiliated following a recent incident at her birthday celebration.

In a new video shared online, Lizzy explained that due to her strong admiration for Tope Alabi, she deliberately avoided playing songs by fellow gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori on her social media pages. While making it clear she has nothing against Yinka, Lizzy said she distanced herself simply out of respect for Tope.

“It’s because of Sister Tope that I never played Yinka Alaseyori’s songs. I don’t hate Yinka; I was just being loyal,” Lizzy said.

“I even turned down an award event in Canada because Yinka was the performer, not Tope.”

Lizzy also recalled how she stood by Tope Alabi when the singer was previously criticized for not allowing her daughter’s father at her wedding. Despite warnings from her team, Lizzy played Tope’s music on her platform to show support.

She then revealed that during her recent surprise birthday party, her fans reached out to Tope Alabi’s team, hoping the gospel singer would honor her by performing. However, Gboah TV reported that Tope Alabi refused to perform upon arrival at the venue after realizing the event was for Lizzy. The incident led to public mockery, which Lizzy believes Tope has refused to address.

“If Tope wasn't enjoying how people mocked me, she would have come out to speak. She humiliated me,” Lizzy said emotionally.

“I’m even the one who should avoid her because her gospel journey started with a traditionalist church.”

The actress also emphasized that she is a Muslim and wouldn’t have expected a gospel singer at her event. She added that she would never use her own money to invite Tope Alabi, insisting the invitation came from her fans who knew how much she once admired the singer.

“I didn’t invite her. My fans did because they know how much I love her. I would never pay Tope to perform for me,” she stressed.

Lizzy ended by stating that her brand was built “on an empty stomach” by her and her husband, and she had supported Tope in the past, including during her fallout with gospel figure Ajanaku.

The ongoing drama has triggered mixed reactions on social media, with fans questioning the dynamics of loyalty, faith, and respect in the entertainment and gospel music scenes.
