Renowned music and film producer Abdulrasheed Bello, better known as JJC Skillz, is grieving the loss of his elder brother. The ex-husband of Nollywood star Funke Akindele announced the heartbreaking news on Friday through an emotional Instagram post.
JJC Skillz shared a touching video montage filled with fond memories of his late brother. In his tribute, he offered prayers for his brother’s soul, their late parents, and all departed loved ones.
“Rest in peace big brother. May your soul, our parents, and loved ones rest in perfect peace. May Allah substitute our lacks with surplus, our sadness with happiness, our fears with security, accept our acts of worship, and may we all be reunited in Jannatul Firdaus. Amin. Juma’at Mubarak,” he wrote.
The post drew an outpouring of sympathy and support from fans and celebrities, including actor Bolanle Ninalowo and former Big Brother Naija star Boma Akpore, who shared their condolences.
JJC Skillz, who first gained fame in the UK as a music producer before becoming a filmmaker in Nigeria, was married to Funke Akindele for six years. The couple, who tied the knot in London in 2016, shared twin boys born in 2018 and co-founded SceneOne Productions, the company behind hit shows like Jenifa’s Diary and Industreet.
Though their marriage ended in 2022, both have focused on their respective paths. JJC remarried in 2023, while Funke launched her media company The Funke Akindele Network (FAAN). Despite their split, they have maintained a cordial relationship in public.
As JJC Skillz navigates this time of mourning, the entertainment industry and his fans continue to stand by him, offering prayers and words of comfort.
