Nollywood actor Raymond Solomon Akinlawon has revealed the reason behind the strained relationship between him and popular actor Odunlade Adekola. Speaking in an interview on the official YouTube channel of Mtec TV, Akinlawon detailed how a disagreement over a movie production fund created a rift between them.
According to Akinlawon, their once smooth working relationship began to fall apart after Odunlade entrusted him with ₦500,000 for a film project. Akinlawon explained that Odunlade had always relied on him to manage production funds, including payments for cast and other expenses.
However, during this particular production, after Akinlawon withdrew the ₦500,000 as instructed, Odunlade unexpectedly told him to hand the money over to the son of veteran actor Yinka Quadri. Odunlade also said that going forward, all matters concerning the movie set would be handled through Yinka Quadri’s son. Akinlawon described this as a surprising shift from how they usually worked together.
The situation worsened when Odunlade later asked Akinlawon to give a detailed account of how the money was spent. Akinlawon said the request made him feel betrayed and distrusted. Hurt by this, he chose to step back from the relationship. While some senior colleagues noticed the tension between them, Akinlawon said he kept the full story to himself until now.
The actor’s revelation has stirred conversations among fans and colleagues about trust and accountability in the film industry.
