"I thought I had died" – Veteran Actor Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ Opens Up on 7-Year Battle With Mysterious Illness

Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has shared the emotional story of his seven-year struggle with a strange illness that left him severely weakened and dependent on pap (cornmeal porridge) for survival.

Speaking in an interview with Oyinmomo TV, the respected Yoruba actor revealed that during this challenging period, he was unable to pray while standing and relied on sitting to pray due to his deteriorating health.

“For a good seven years, I prayed while sitting, and I couldn’t eat anything except pap. It was a terrible period of my life,” he shared.

Ogogo explained that he went from one treatment center to another in search of healing, receiving all kinds of treatments from various sources. He expressed gratitude to those who supported him—both men and women.

Despite the severity of his condition, Ogogo noted that he never had to sell any property to fund his healthcare and only took a break from frequently appearing on movie sets.

“The only thing I couldn’t do then was go to locations often,” he added.

The actor also admitted that at one point, he feared for his life and discarded his Mecca teeth, believing he was close to death.

The candid revelation has drawn admiration from fans, with many praising his resilience and quiet strength during such a difficult chapter in his life.
