"The woman I wanted to marry insisted that I must have two cars before anything" – Actor Afeez 'Saka' Oyetoro Opens Up About Love and Getting Married at 40.

Veteran Nollywood actor and comedian Afeez Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, has shared rare and heartfelt insights into his personal and professional life during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.

Reflecting on a painful chapter from his early years, Saka revealed how a woman he once planned to marry ended their relationship because he couldn’t afford two cars, a condition she insisted on before marriage. The relationship ended, but Saka moved on and eventually tied the knot at the age of 40, a decision he says came with wisdom and clarity. He humorously added that the only difference is now he pays school fees with grey hair.

Speaking about his wife, the actor described marrying her as the best decision of his life, crediting her for bringing stability and joy to his journey.

On his rise to fame, Saka debunked the popular assumption that he was a brand ambassador for Etisalat. He clarified that he was only a model featured on the centre spread, and never signed a brand endorsement deal with the telecom company. He revealed that he nearly joined Glo but was cautious due to a previous contract. “If I had breached that contract,” he said, “maybe I’d still be in prison today.”

He credited a now-iconic MTN advert for changing the course of his career, turning him from a comic face into a national icon almost overnight.

Saka also opened up about his hair loss, explaining that it wasn’t due to aging but a university theatre role that required his head to be shaved. Unfortunately, his hair never grew back after that role.

Addressing rumours and misconceptions about his personality, Saka clarified that while he’s lively on screen, in real life, he is quite reserved. “Once I leave the stage or camera, I am no longer that Saka,” he said.

The interview has since sparked admiration online, with fans praising Saka for his honesty, humility, and unwavering commitment to his craft.
